Oak Advisory was founded on the idea that it is impossible to provide exceptional quality financial advice if you are owned or aligned with a bank.
To ensure we provide the best quality advice, Oak has chosen to specialise exclusively in retirement planning advice.
Oak is a small team and plans to stay that way; we pride ourselves on every team member, knowing every client.
We are purely fee-for-service and do not receive any commissions, kick-backs, brokerage, or other remuneration that could put our interests in conflict with yours.
As part of our commitment to our clients’ Oak Advisory has the following guiding principles:
- Act fairly, honestly, and professionally towards our clients.
- Provide financial advice of exceptional quality.
- Charge fees that are fair and reflective of the service provided.
James Harper – Director/Retirement Planning Specialist
James founded Oak Advisory after noting a lack of options for people in Perth seeking independent financial advice, and that too many financial advisers tried to provide advice in too many areas of financial advice.
With the founding of Oak Advisory, James intended to establish the firm of choice for people seeking retirement planning advice in the Perth area.
James strongly believes that to provide high-quality advice, you can no longer be a jack of all trades and that similar to doctors, that financial planners should specialise in certain areas of advice.
With this in mind, he has chosen to focus his career exclusively on providing retirement planning advice.
James is both a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA), one of very few advisers in Australia to have both these accreditations.
He received a Certificate of Excellence for the marks he obtained during the course of his CPA study.
He also has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia as well as a Diploma, and Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
He is a member of the following professional organisations.
- Financial Planning Association of Australia
- CPA Australia
Grace Muir – Associate Director/Retirement Planning Specialist
Grace joined Oak Advisory after finishing a Bachelor of Commerce at UWA.
Grace’s role at Oak is to help develop the retirement planning advice for our clients. Grace has experience in all aspects of retirement advice, including superannuation, investments, and complex modelling.
She is currently also studying a Masters of Economics Part-time at UWA.
Chloe Davison – Operations Manager
The backbone of the office, Chloe is responsible for the smooth implementation and administration of all aspects of our business.
Chloe has experience with the administration requirements of nearly every Australian superannuation fund, bank, investment provider, and stockbrokers. She also has experience in the ongoing administration requirements for self-managed superannuation funds.
